Setup, Plans, and Store Settings
Can I bulk import options, migrate from another app, or supply an image library through an API?
Self-service bulk import of options and prices, automatic migration, and an image library API are not supported. Our team can sometimes bulk-load a setup for you or help rebuild options from another app; contact us with your data and we will tell you whether and how we can help.
Can collection cards show custom swatches or a Starting at price?
Collection cards can display Shopify variant swatches, but not Podifai custom option swatches. Automatically displaying the minimum customization price and changing the wording to Starting at requires a small Liquid theme change. Podifai provides free assistance with that change.
Can I use the customizer in my homepage Featured Product section?
Not currently. Podifai customizers are supported on product pages and their product templates. Homepage Featured Product sections, collection pages, and other non-product-page sections are not supported as customizer surfaces. Link shoppers to the product page to customize the product.
I have plain fabric color variants and want to add hibiscus prints and a logo. What do I need?
Start by sharing one product image and confirming whether you already have the hibiscus pattern and logo artwork as separate files. Existing color variants may supply the shirt background, but they do not supply missing print artwork. A layered preview can combine that background with separately prepared collar and logo images. Confirm which areas change independently and whether the collar and logo share colors. If the artwork does not exist yet, it must be created before it can appear in the preview. See Image & Asset Requirements for the multi-part preview checklist.
Does Podifai manufacture, print, or ship my products?
No. Podifai provides product customization software and saves the shopper's selections with the Shopify order. You or your production and fulfillment partners manufacture, print, and ship the physical product. Review the saved artwork and order details against your production requirements.
Where can I delete uploaded fonts?
Open Assets. Unused fonts can be deleted individually or in bulk. Fonts used in a customization setup are protected from deletion; replace or remove those uses first.
How are you different from other product personalisers?
We built Podifai to be easy for merchants and polished for shoppers. It supports no-code setup, on-brand styling, live 2D preview, dynamic pricing, conditional logic, reusable templates, and customization data saved with Shopify orders.
What kind of personalisation is Podifai suitable for?
Podifai supports merchant-configured product options and layered 2D previews, including text, monograms, image uploads, and selectable visual choices. Common uses include engraved jewelry, personalized bags, photo gifts, and home accessories. Suitability depends on the option types, artwork, theme, and production workflow you configure. Test one representative product before expanding the setup.
See Your First Customizer for a representative engraving setup.
Will it work with my theme?
Podifai is designed for modern Shopify Online Store 2.0 themes and works out of the box for most standard product pages. If your theme uses a non-standard product form or layout, use the Podifai App Block for custom placement or send us your store link and we'll help check it.
See Theme Compatibility for more details.
Is Podifai free? What plans are there?
Podifai has three plans. Free forever covers up to 3 customized products. Starter is $7.9/month for up to 30 customized products. Growth is $15.9/month for unlimited customized products. When you add a fourth customized product on Free forever, Podifai asks you to choose a paid plan. Starter and Growth include free help with template code changes for packing slips and order confirmation emails. Our launch free period has ended. Early users keep using Podifai for free under our grandfather policy.
How do I cancel my plan or uninstall Podifai?
Uninstall Podifai from Shopify admin: go to Settings → Apps, find Podifai, and choose Uninstall. Shopify ends the app's billing when the app is uninstalled. You do not need to uninstall to avoid charges if you only use up to 3 customized products, because the Free forever plan covers that. Before uninstalling, note that the customizer is removed from your product pages.
How do I change dollars to euros or another currency?
The Podifai admin/editor may currently show a dollar symbol as the default UI symbol. On the live storefront and at checkout, Podifai follows the currency context that Shopify provides for the customer. For single-currency stores, add-on prices display in the store currency. For Shopify Markets, add-on prices follow the customer's active market currency and Shopify's market pricing setup, which can include automatic exchange rates, manual rates, rounding rules, price adjustments, or fixed international prices. If you use a third-party currency app, Podifai does not use that app as its source of exchange rates; the final checkout currency still depends on Shopify's checkout and market configuration, so test each active market.
Do you support WooCommerce or custom sites?
Podifai currently supports Shopify.
Can I use Podifai without coding?
Yes. You can configure options, images, Live Preview, and styling without code. Displaying customization details or preview images in some cart themes, order confirmation emails, or packing slips may require template code changes. Starter and Growth merchants receive free assistance with those changes.
Does Podifai support multiple languages?
Podifai supports translations for system messages and custom options, including labels, values, help text, button labels, and view names. Add a published Shopify language in Podifai, then edit translations manually or use AI Auto Translation.
See Multiple Languages & Translations for language setup, manual edits, and AI translation confirmation.
Do tooltips work with Collapsible options?
Yes. In Field > General, enable Help content in either show style. Choose hover or popup, then set Label and Tip. Hyperlink text and Hyperlink URL add a link; popup also supports an image.
How do I temporarily hide customization without deleting my options?
To pause just one product, change its status from Active to Unlisted in Shopify admin. Shoppers will not find it in your store because it is hidden from collections, search and recommendations, but customers with its direct URL can still access and buy it. Our support team can still view it. Your Podifai options are kept. To turn customization off for the whole store or theme, go to Online Store > Themes > Customize > App embeds and turn off Podifai, or remove the Podifai App Block from the product template. App Embed affects the whole theme; removing the App Block affects every product that uses that template. Shopify Draft takes the whole product off sale; use it only when that is your goal. Delete Options removes the configuration; it is not a pause control.
Can I add checkbox choices?
Yes. Drag Checkbox from Option Type into the editor. Configure its values in Field, then set Required field, Default option, Allow multiple option values, and Allow quantity per option as needed.
See Checkbox setup.
Can shoppers choose a product quantity in the customizer?
Yes. Global Settings > Popup customizer > Quantity selector controls whether the product quantity selector appears inside the Popup customizer. Inline customizers always show it. Quantity repeats the same customization; it does not create a separate personalization form for each copy. For different names or images on separate items, customize and add each item to cart separately, then verify both cart lines.
See Customizer Display Modes for Popup setup and mobile behavior.
Which Popup behaviors can I change in Global Settings?
Under Popup customizer, you can choose With product title or Minimal for the Popup header and show or hide the quantity selector. Under Add to cart & orders, Cart behaviour lets Popup Add to Cart redirect to the cart page or follow the theme default. Live preview, Fields/options and Other hold the settings that apply to both modes: Focus areas, Live Preview zoom, enlarged option images, Design sharing and Protect IP. Click Save changes after editing.
See Customizer Display Modes for Popup setup and mobile behavior.
Live Preview and Product Views
How does the live preview work?
When a customer uses a supported preview option — such as a visual option, text field, font choice, image upload, or linked color choice — the product preview updates on the page without a reload. You upload your product images and map each preview layer to the right position so customers can see what they are choosing before they buy.
Do you support 3D live preview?
Not currently. Podifai uses 2D rendering. You can upload 3D-rendered product images for a realistic look, but the preview engine is 2D. Multiple Views provides separate product views rather than an interactive 3D model.
Does Podifai support front and back personalization?
Yes. A customizer can use one to five switchable 2D views, such as Front, Back, Left Sleeve, or Right Sleeve. Every view has its own background and independent preview layers, and shoppers can switch views without losing earlier selections.
See Multiple Views for setup guidance and current boundaries.
Why do the other preview elements fade when I choose an option?
Global Settings > Live preview > Focus areas highlights the active area and dims other areas. Turn off Focus areas if you do not want that effect. Dimming does not delete the other customizations.
Which options support placeholder images?
Image Upload, Image Swatch, Badge Group, Dropdown, and image-enabled Checkbox support Enable placeholder image in the Live Preview tab. Choose a provided placeholder or add your own.
Can Live Preview use the selected Shopify variant image as its background?
Yes. Choose Variant image as the Live Preview background. It works best when every variant image uses the same composition, product position, and aspect ratio—for example, when only the product color changes—so personalization overlays stay aligned.
See Live Preview backgrounds for setup and limitations.
Text, Fonts, and Monograms
Can I change the ABC Font Swatch sample?
Yes. Edit the Font Swatch option value and replace Preview text, which defaults to ABC, with your own sample text.
Can customers add icons or emoji-like symbols alongside text?
Yes. Text Input and Text Area offer Enable icon selector in Field > General. Choose built-in SVG icons or use Select SVG for your own artwork. This offers the icons you configure; it does not provide every Unicode emoji or apply a second text font within the same input.
Does Podifai support two-letter or three-letter monograms?
Yes. In a Font Swatch option value, change Font mode from Single Font to Monogram, choose Two letters or Three letters, and adjust each letter's size scale plus the overall letter spacing. Link it to Text Input or Text Area and set a matching character limit on the linked text option.
See Two-Letter and Three-Letter Monograms for setup guidance.
Can I set a character limit for Text Area?
Yes. Turn on Allow Character Limit in the Text Area settings, then set the maximum number of characters shoppers can enter.
Can I upload WOFF2 custom fonts?
Yes. Global Font and Font Swatch accept TTF, OTF, WOFF, and WOFF2 uploads up to 5 MB per file. Confirm that your font license permits web use before uploading it.
See Font Swatch for custom font setup.
Can I upload multiple custom fonts at once?
Yes. You can select and upload multiple font files in one upload. This is separate from the storefront selection behavior: shoppers can select only one font at a time from a Font Swatch.
Can Podifai dynamically generate a name necklace like Jewlr?
No. Podifai can display customer-entered text at a fixed position on a necklace preview and let shoppers select a font or color. It cannot currently regenerate the necklace geometry or reconnect the chain endpoints based on the length and shape of the entered name.
See Jewelry Templates for supported jewelry setups.
Images and Charm Customizers
Can customers upload their own images?
Yes. Image Upload accepts PNG, JPG, JPEG, WebP, and SVG images up to 8 MB. Enable Live Preview and configure the upload layer when the image should appear on the product preview. With Live Preview off, customers can still upload a file and its link is saved with the order. Print-ready file generation is a separate setting.
See Image Upload for accepted files and optional preview setup.
Can I apply a shape mask to preview images or Image Upload?
Merchants can apply a built-in mask or upload a custom PNG mask for supported image-based Live Preview content, including Image Upload. For Image Upload, shoppers can adjust the image with the Storefront Image Editor tools enabled by the merchant; the mask itself is merchant-configured.
See Image Masks for supported option types and custom PNG mask setup.
Where are the controls for moving, resizing, or rotating preview images?
Select the Image Swatch or Image Upload option and open its Properties > Live Preview tab. Enable Live customizer, turn on On-canvas image controls, and choose Allow move, Allow resize, and Allow rotate independently. Save and test the enabled actions. For free placement of multiple Image Swatch values, choose Multiple position > Mode > Drag freely. Display mode below the product image only chooses Inline or Popup.
Can shoppers edit an uploaded image in Live Preview?
Yes. Select the Image Upload option, open Image Upload Properties > Live Preview, enable Live customizer, and turn on Uploaded image editor popup. Choose which tools shoppers can use: Reposition, Scale, Rotate, Adjust opacity, Grayscale, Remove background, and Zoom preview.
See Storefront Image Editor for setup and theme compatibility.
What happens when I enable Automatic image processing?
Automatic image processing applies effects immediately after a customer uploads an image. You can enable Convert to grayscale on upload, Remove background on upload, or both. The processed result is used in Live Preview and in the production file attached to the customization. Uploaded image editor popup is a separate feature that lets shoppers adjust the processed image.
Can Image Swatch, Dropdown, and Badge Group values use SVG images?
Yes. SVG is supported for Image Swatch thumbnail and preview images, image-enabled Dropdown and Badge Group values, and customer-facing Image Upload.
See Image & Asset Requirements for the difference between merchant option assets and customer uploads.
Can I build a multi-select charm or component customizer?
Yes. In Image Swatch Properties > Field, use Allow multiple option values with quantity per option off for different charms once each, or Allow quantity per option for repeated units. Configure the layout under Live Preview > Multiple position. Each charm can have its own price adjustment and inventory link.
See Charm Builder for the complete workflow.
Can shoppers rearrange or delete selected charms?
With Allow multiple option values enabled and Drag & snap configured under Live Preview > Multiple position, shoppers can drag an unselected charm from the option list onto the preview to fill an empty slot. At the selection limit, dropping an unselected charm onto a filled slot replaces that charm. To swap selected charms between slots, drag them directly on the preview. On desktop, hover over a preview charm to reveal its delete control.
Can a customer add the same charm more than once?
Yes. Enable Allow quantity per option in Image Swatch Properties > Field. Set the limits under Quantity per option and Total quantity. Two of the same charm count as two items; the product quantity selector controls whole products. Check pricing and actual inventory deductions separately before launch.
Why can shoppers select more than the maximum while customizing?
With Allow quantity per option off, shoppers can temporarily select fewer than Min selections or more than Max selections while editing. Podifai displays a warning and still lets them add or remove values. Final validation blocks submission when the selection is below Min selections or above Max selections. Shoppers can still select, remove, or replace values while editing.
Orders, Files, Pricing, and Inventory
Why does my cart show the original product image?
The Shopify theme controls the cart product image. Showing the customized Live Preview instead of the original product image may require a theme code change. This is separate from placing the full customizer in the cart or editing a customization there. Podifai provides free assistance with these code changes for merchants on the Starter and Growth plans.
See Cart Preview for theme setup.
Why is my Live Preview image missing from the order confirmation email?
Shopify renders order confirmation emails from a separate notification template. The template must display the saved Live Preview Image property as an image; changing the storefront or cart does not automatically change the email. Check that the order has a preview link, then follow the order confirmation email guide. Podifai provides free assistance with these code changes for merchants on the Starter and Growth plans.
See Order Confirmation Emails for the template code.
Why are customization details missing from my packing slip?
If the details are saved in the order, the packing slip template needs to display them. The email and packing slip use separate templates. Starter and Growth merchants receive free assistance with these code changes.
See Packing Slips for the template code and partial-shipment behavior.
Can Podifai generate print-ready files?
Yes. First turn on Global Settings > Add to cart & orders > Generate print-ready files; it is off by default. When valid print data is saved during Add to Cart, generation starts after Shopify creates the order, without waiting for payment. Each view containing included text or customer-uploaded images gets a transparent PNG. Product photos, mockup backgrounds, and Image Swatch artwork are excluded. Download the complete ZIP from Podifai or Shopify Admin once all required files are ready. Anyone with the ZIP URL can download the files.
Can I charge extra for selected options or uploads?
Yes. Option values, Text Input, Text Area, and Image Upload can increase or decrease the product price by a fixed amount or percentage, or add the price of a linked Shopify product or variant. Percentage adjustments use the product's current effective Shopify price and do not compound.
When does Podifai deduct option inventory?
Podifai deducts tracked option stock after Shopify creates the order, without waiting for payment. Unpaid orders can therefore reduce stock. Adding an item to cart or abandoning checkout does not reserve or deduct this inventory.
Does cancelling or refunding an order restore option inventory?
No. Podifai does not currently automatically reverse its inventory deductions when an order is cancelled or refunded. Review the affected custom inventory values or linked Shopify variants and manually correct their stock counts as needed. Check any stock already restored by Shopify before adjusting the same component again.
Can I hide out-of-stock option values?
Yes. In Global Settings > Fields/options, use Out-of-stock options to choose Hide or Disable. This global setting affects all store products using Podifai.
See Inventory & Variants for both storefront behaviors.
Why did the Shop Pay or Buy it now button disappear?
This is expected. Express checkout buttons skip the cart, so the customization and any add-on price would be lost. Podifai hides them on customized products.
See Display Modes.
Where do I find a customer's uploaded file?
Open the order in Podifai (Orders) or in Shopify Admin. The upload link and the final preview image are saved with the order line.
Do I need to set Podifai up again after changing themes?
Yes. App Embed and App Block settings are per theme, so enable them again in each theme you publish or test.
See Switching Themes.
